Aged Version: 3.1.0 Hotfix

Describe the bug

We have tried playing multiplayer with a friend on the following "platforms"

Essential Mod e4mc Google cloud server hosting

All 3 of them resulted in the same error message for the both of us Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.EncoderException: io.netty.util.IllegalReferenceCountException: refCnt: 0
