This project focuses on using symptoms to predict likely COVID infections. The purpose is to diagnose patients early and accurately. The dataset will be sampled from Facebook users and will have data such as symptoms and geographic location.
I think the fact that there is an abundance of data on this topic makes for having enough data to experiment with and build good models. In addition, I like the purpose since even with the vaccine in many countries where the vaccine is not widely accessible there is a large number of cases. I am interested to see how you can make it unique since COVID is a topic that people have done a lot of research on.
I wonder how you will bring uniqueness to your project, there are many cases already of models that predict COVID based on factors such as symptoms. In addition, how do you plan to ensure that the dataset is accurate and valid to work with? With a data set purely based on self-reporting is it possible that people with or without symptoms are underreported? Finally, the dataset was taken in a time where the vaccine was much less accessible than it is now, how does the vaccine affect the data and your project?
