I've spent enough time on this game to want to pay for the entertainment. I
suggest you put some sort of paypal link on the main page so users can
contribute to your efforts.

Firstly, I want do say a very big thank you for wanting do donate to the
efforts that myself and others have put into the game. I am humbled that you
feel that the game is that entertaining. More content is coming along to make
it even more entertaining for you as players. I really see Andor's Trail as
having a very big potential in becoming even greater. Thank you for wanting to
contribute to those efforts.

Regarding a Paypal link or a donation option, at the moment this is not
something that I feel fits my intention of the game or the development model.

Let me explain my motivation to making the game in the first place. What made
me initially start the game was two things:
 1) I personally enjoy coding very much. Coding is something I do when I get home from work and on weekends to relax. This is really something that I find enjoyable, and I only do it for fun and relaxing.
 2) I wanted do release some open source game on Android market, to get an open source community going around the game. Additionally, I wanted to release it as open source so that other people that are interested in coding can have some example to look at.

Regarding pt 1, I feel that getting some payback from the game is not at all my
driving point in making it. My estimate tells me that I would get more cash
from my day job than from donations for Andor's Trail. This is also my main
reason as to why Andor's Trail is and will be free to download and play.

Additionally, I feel that if I started charging money for the game, I would
feel more of an obligation to work on the game. Kind of like a job. That would
take out all (or most) of the fun out of it since I would not feel like I was
having "free time" when making the game. As stated in pt 1 above, I do this for
fun and relaxing, and not for creating more work. I already have enough work -
at work :)

Regarding pt 2, charging money for the game or receiving donations would
present a difficult choice when the project is developed as open source. I
would want all contributors to get some share of the money in relation to what
effort they have put into it. This is ofcourse very difficult to get right, so
that the division is fair. I would have a moral challenge with myself if I
would not distribute it somehow.

Again, I am very glad to hear you enjoy the game, and I hope that the future
updates will bring you even more enjoyment and a great gaming experience. In
terms of what you can contribute to the game, I feel that money is not the
right way to go currently. If you have the time and effort, you are of course
welcome to help with the development of the game to make even more people happy
with their gaming experience. Not only coding is required; mapmaking, writing
stories and quest, documentation and text for the website are also important
things to making a world-class game.

Thanks again for wanting to contribute.

Thanks for taking the time to respond so thoughtfully.

I appreciate your honesty and fully understand the donation/profit-sharing
dilemma.

I will think about other ways I can contribute.
