Suggestion: The appearance of your character #72

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

In its present form, the appearance of your character is fixed, so if you have
an axe in my hand, you still see your character wearing a sword. Appearance of
your character could depend on what is currently wearing, but it's only a
suggestion :)

Not a rogue-like approach, but I do support the idea

...or perhaps an option to start out with a different character image. I am
sure that would not be too difficult to add. Then the load up page you could
show the character image next to the save file.

I don't see how changing character makes the game less rogue-like...especially
when I always saw random dungeons to be part of the definition of rougelike.
That being said, I like the saved game image compromise.

In all roguelike games I saw so far
- form (typically: ASCII character) is determined by race
- color is determined by occupation (miner or mage)

But since we are on a fully graphical interface, why not use a wider range of
icons for different equipment. At least sword, axe, knife, staff, and
one-handed, two-handed, as well as 1h + shield.

This issue just reminded me of Diablo II where it is really cool to see your
equipment reflected even in your shadow.

I think a character image selected at creation is good. Base it on class.

This engagement has been discussed here
http://andorstrail.com/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1093
Extensively so I thought why not point this to that discussion for ease of
