Nothing happens #39

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Open Pixus

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Anything! The app opens, and there's nothing. No on screen elements. Nothing 
useful in the 
menus either:
Pixus: About Pixus, Hide Pixus, Hide Others, Show All, Quit Pixus
File: Close (grayed out)
Edit: Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select All (all grayed out), Special Characters
Window: Minimize, Zoom, Bring All To Front (all grayed out)

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Pixus 1.0 r69 tested on both Intel and G4 Mac 10.5.6.

Please provide any additional information below.
The installation did not ask me for a system password, unlike all the previous 
AIR apps I've 
installed.

I have tested on both Windows XP SP3 and Intel Mac 10.5.6 and I didn't see the
problem. And I have traced hundreds of launches worldwide since R69. Right now, 
I
can't tell the reason. But maybe you can try uninstall Pixus and install again. 
Or
the entire Adobe AIR framework in case no other cure. And keep me updated about 
your
progress.

Now tested on three computers, third is another Intel Mac with 10.5.6. Same 
result...just a completely empty 
application. Fresh install of Adobe AIR 1.5.1, multiple attempts to install and 
uninstall Pixus. Restarted computer 
after installing. Nothing was successful.

Try to download the package from another source. It's 244KB.
http://www.jpeg.cn/pixus/pixus.air

If it still dosen't work, please tell me your hardware / OS / language specs 
with a
file list of the installation folder. It's usually "Program Files\JPEG
Interactive\pixus" under Windows and "Applications\JPEG Interactive\pixus.app". 
You
need to right-click on pixus.app and click "Open enclosing folder" in OS X to 
see the
files inside. And can you run other AIR apps?

Some correction to the previous post.
The folder is usually "jpeg" rather than "JPEG Interactive"
Click "Show package content" rather than "Open enclosing folder"

Nope, no go with that installer either. Other AIR apps (including new downloads 
just to test) are behaving fine.
Intel Mac Pro dual 2.8GHz Quad-Core Xeon with 4GB RAM. Single 30" Apple cinema 
display. OS 10.5.6 in 
English. Pixus package contents are shown in attached screenshot...looks like 
it's all there.

Pretty bizarre. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help. I know how 
much of a pain blind debugging can 
be.

Have you successfully ran Pixus before? Does it happens only with R69? What 
about the
previous stable release

I had the same problem and used the other download link and now it is working 
for me. I had version .9 before I 
upgraded. One comment I would have is to have the application quit when you 
click the x in the top right menu. 
It isn't useful to have the app open if the interface isn't available. I'm on a 
Mac.

The bug is mysterious. I have tested Pixus under Mac OS X from 10.5.5 to 10.5.7 
in both 
Chinese and US English environments but found no failure. If you haven't even 
seen the 
dock/tray icon, it's likely that the XML setting file is not properly read. In 
this 
case, I will convert the XML to UTF-8 and add more detailed event tracking to 
tell 
where Pixus fails.

Please auto-update to R75 for a test drive.

And I don't plan to make the X button really close the application. As a handy 
tool,
I am likely to hide it in most cases, just as how MSN Messenger does. In Mac OS 
X,
you can simply hit Command+Q to quit the app. Easier than in Windows.
