Known problems with Question Arcs 1080p

Q. any other things that you know don't work? A. From what I've seen, end credit scrolls don't show up and clocks are offset, and far a I can guess, most, if not all, special sprite coordinates and say, flashing shield effects and those sorts are messed up in the same way. Dunno if there's anything else missing, though it may very well be likely. Sorry it's pretty damn barebones, haven't really felt like going through the game again to spot stuff that ain't working.

In conclusion, at some point I'll merge the script changes onto another branch, put up the graphics file, and hopefully some people can test it. I pretty much just need people to play-test the game, tell me what's type of things are broken, and then I can (hopefully) create a program to automatically fix all of that type of error.


Developer Information

Forteissimo has done quite a bit of work on 1080p for the question arcs. I tried out his patch for a little bit and had a Q & A with him to figure out where it's at:

Q. if we wanted to package this, we essentially just replace the current graphics patch with the files you've provided (and update the script and .exe too). Voices and other patches remain the same? A. Think that's about it? Didn't modify any voice or audio files.

Q. Did you make the Umineko1to4.exe by just renaming the Answer arcs .exe? I noticed the videos played at native resolution. I can either re-patch the question arcs .exe, or get properly sized videos like in the answer arcs. A. I did yeah lol Just assumed they were similar enough or entirely identical to copy over, change the icon and rename. Whatever works best though.

Q. how much testing did you do while you were making it? I'm actually surprised how few changes were required during the main portion of the script, and how many changes were required in the 'code/menu' section of the script. A. Didn't really test much beyond, like, checking the menus, general reading screen and metaworld layer sprites worked and looked fine.

Q. i just skipped through some of it (not properly), but even so I feel like merging your script into our script on a new branch, then putting a beta-testing link to the 1080p version on the website. Does that seem reasonable? A. Of course, yeah! Anything to get it polished as soon as possible. Whatever you feel would be most appropriate, go right ahead.

1080p has been out for quite a while and most of the issues are resolved, so I'm closing this now.
