It would be awesome to have the following features. 

1. A field for end time. There's only fields for start time and duration, it 
would be great if there was an end time here so we don't have to go watch 
something to figure out the timing.

2. When I pause the video (using VLC player) the video does not stop 
immediately, but skips a few frames. Is it possible to make the stop immediate?

3. When I set the start time, I think it would be much more useful if the 
duration changed and keep the end-time as is. If it shifts the end time 
automatically, it actually makes the editing more difficult.

Hi Choi!

1) End time is available in the list view.

2) Yes, there seems to be a minor adjustment when seeking in VLC - do try 
DirectShow as video player (best with ffdshow tryouts + hali matroska splitter).

3) I've tried to add this shortcut here: http://www.nikse.dk/SubtitleEdit.zip 
(Options -> Settings -> Adjust -> Set start time, keep end time)

Also, you can use the time line (audio visualizer): Shift+mouse down set start

Hey! Thanks for quick reply.

I'm sorry for confusion, I don't think I was being clear. I was wondering it 
would be awesome if there was end time input field next to duration field. 
Please refer to the attached file (I've circled it) It's often very useful to 
be able to adjust the end time directly.

I think the starttime + duration is enough to compute the time elapse,but if we 
can provide one more choise with the starttime + endtime mode,it will be 
fantastic

To issue 1: I would also prefer to have End Time text box so as to be able 
adjust the end time directly. Why is it good? I usually do rough timing by 
using the time line. Then I do fine editing by using Start time + Duration text 
boxes, and I work with frames, not with time. For example, I prefer to have 
exactly one frame gap between two subsequent subtitles. Therefore, when I see 
that subtitle #5 begins at 00:04:18:07 I know that I want to subtitle #4 end at 
00:04:18:06. Now I have to always calculate what is the supposed duration of 
the previous subtitle.

To issue 3: In the same scenario as described above, when doing fine editing it 
is very useful to change only Start/End time and not to keep duration. Maybe it 
could be solved by a check box under Duration text box saying something like 
"Keep duration." During fine editing I could easily choose if I want to keep 
duration or not. In this scenario, the solution with the keyboard shortcut as 
suggested in one of the previous posts would not be practical.
