Ardupilot compatibility #3

I have one of these lidars on order and watching this project with interest.

It would be great if this firmware ends up in a state that flight controllers running Ardupilot could use, it very possible that it will already work with the right settings on the flight controller side but mine has yet to arrive.

This is the lidar page in the Ardupilot documentation, a lidar not being on the list does not mean it wont work and i have my fingers crossed that your firmware will, these are dirt cheap 360 lidars and many will buy them if they can be made to work!

this is definitely something im interested in. im currently bogged down with university work but i should have some free time coming up to (finally) work on this project. now we know the protocol, it should be pretty easy to write some code to parse and send off the data. I have some experience with the mavlink protocol, maybe this could be built into this firmware (rather than having a separate uC for parsing etc.) in the future.

ooh, now im hopeful ha ha.

If you have experience with mavlink i assume your into or have at least had some experience with Rc, are you on rcgroups.com if you start a thread on there you may well get other offering to help with development 🙂

Steve.
