Many people have different preferences and stuff regarding personalization, As mentioned in #1284 a person might prefer padding beside text and others might not, therefore adding padding is not the best option (In this example)
I have also noticed that the personalization tab of settings contains only color theme customization settings, its way too limited.

I would love to see more customizability in Notepads. Its a great app but it lacks customization.
Adding multiple options instead of only font settings and color theme can be great.
Some options are:
Line numbers
Line padding
Text padding (#1284)
Tabs position
and a lot more.

I didn't really consider any alternatives but if I understand what the question here is I really like Ghostwriter, marktext and obsidian.md
