After a myriad of difficulties related to moving this to github pages, the refactoring branch is creating some difficult-to-pin down bugs.

This is to track those issues.

These bugs are actually brutal. Since the spirit of the refactoring is there, and the rest of our team is currently knee-deep in the codebase, I am going to hold off on integrating any of the refactoring and leave the current branch as-is.
