Question:

You've provided quite a lot of flexibility in the choice of technologies and frameworks, so long as their open source. This creates some anxiety around making the "right" recommendation. Is the government looking to standardize on certain toolsets to ease long term maintainability and extensibility concerns? If so, what tools look most promising?

Answer:

The vendor should choose technologies widely-used in industry for web app development and avoid technologies that are extremely cutting-edge. Additionally, cloud.gov supports the following languages via buildpacks (in alphabetical order): dotnet core, go, java, nodejs, php, python, and ruby.
