some initial ideas:
Provide a sense of the first ten rows of the dataset Link to or add feature for pulling in census data or other helpful geographical data Even more (or more prominent) call outs about participation and coverage
and a similar approach we may want to draw inspiration from: https://datacatalog.cookcountyil.gov/Courts/State-s-Attorney-Felony-Cases-Disposition-Outcomes/cqdb-r84f
@AvivaOskow when you have a chance, can you link to the latest mockups here and outline the aspects you would like to continue exploring/refining?
Some additional questions to explore in sprint 2:
--what problem does the download preview solve? --what context is most important to highlight and why? --are metrics like population, agency participation, and population appropriate measures of the reliability/integrity of bulk NIBRS data? should they also be applied to the more specialized datasets available on the downloads & documentation page like hate crime, or assaults on police employees? --how might highlighting low rates of participation affect public trust and use of the data? --what geographical context, if any, would be useful here? do notions of population density, like urban vs. rural, help put this data in context? if so, might we define these terms?

How can we help users get a sense of the datasets they're interested in prior to download? What metadata is important to show in this context and what data do we have available to work with? How does something like this fit within the context of our current interface design?
