This makes sense. I don't think anyone has the bandwidth right now for a proper rewrite, but in the interim I think we can have someone from the writing lab update the values to be consistent with the blog post.
I've opened a writing lab issue: https://github.com/18F/writing-lab/issues/429
@amandacostello has the related writing lab issue
@amandacostello any update on this?
Met with @amandacostello this week. We have a plan forward and work is underway.
Not to bring this one back from the dead for no reason, but it came up in a meeting today. @amandacostello, did this fall off your radar?
Just a note that this page has been moved from its former URL in the issue. Now here: https://handbook.tts.gsa.gov/18f-history-and-values/
Will note here: A personal nit I’d like to get out of there is what currently stands as "sister organization" but should probably be "sibling organization," plus probably the entire "hacking bureaucracy" section, which we could revise/replace with our more current consulting/coaching model.
This issue will be closed as inactive on or after November 23. If we should keep this issue open, please add another comment or remove the stale
label.
I would like to circle back around to this, but I'm not sure who could/should take point on it.
Agreed. I hadn't looked at it in a long time, I guess, but it's pretty bad. There's a lot of "white knight"-ness going on, and when it talks about attracting talent, it totally ignores all of the tech talent that already existed in government, including at our now-sibling office Solutions. I worked on the language some for a bit before I decided it probably needed to be rewritten from scratch (maybe using the current page as a source of information for dates), and that's not something I feel up to right now. But hard agree that it needs to be rewritten.
In the meantime, I opened #3303 to mark the page as outdated.
Welp, this/#3303 explains why I couldn't find a page directly about 18F's core values when searching the other day.
This page has been updated.
The History and Value of 18F page needs a full rewrite. I'd recommend focusing the edits on:
