Feature Idea - Choose the link letter based on first letter of the link #700

Instead of choosing a letter from the list of most accessible keys, it might be more useful to choose a letter that has some relation to the link instead. For example, if the link has the text Google associated with it, it would be easier if the link letter was G. Then users could be ready to press this key by anticipating this

Not exactly what you're asking for but if you use numbers for your URL hints and enable typelinkhints, you can type the text of links to open them (or narrow down if multiple links match):

set numerichints
set typelinkhints
