Concerns regarding the Google-Sheet of IP's and Seeds. #252

Hey,

I wanted to reach out to you regarding the fact, that you guys are collecting seed and IP-Information on a public Sheet. I kinda feel like this should be more or less the decision of the admins of that particular server.

More or less I'm seeing a lot of trouble also regarding the european privacy policy. I urge you to remove that Google Sheet or design the Mod so, that Admins have a possibility to stop it.

Regards.

Is it not in the interest of an admin (or even the Hoster of the Admins) to publish the ip of their server on their own terms? imho it should be obliged to them, of course many of these servers are already on some server list, but there might be some that aren't and won't be.

I still feel like my servers especially on the ip's I as a hoster own shouldn't be somewhere on a google form in the internet. Especially since I resell all those IP's at some point to another vendor or maybe another customer and they might get unhappy if they are not doing the Minecraft-Serveradmin thing properly. And this therefore brings down for me at least customer happiness, because there's only a limited pool of IP-Adresses.

And btw actually I would recommend you using anything else than google forms maybe crypt pad?

The software uploads the seed to google sheets on servers that have more than 10 players and its opt in meaning the user has to enable the seed sending

you do realise the software cracks the seed using in game info and is often used by people who do it against the rules/server owners permission? Like how hack clients exist and people use it to cheat on servers. I really doubt most of the people here really cares for the owner/admins consent.

Not a lawyer but i dont think this really violates the eu privacy laws. Its legit just an ip + seed, nothing thats exactly personal information also i dont really get your point about how some random server's ip should be exposed on a random google form.

When you host a mc server with the port open it means its public to the whole world. An IPV4 mass scan can legit find every mc server in the whole IPV4 range easily. Changing your port wont hide it so whats the point , when your ip changes the info on the database becomes pointless as i doubt it auto updates.

Theres many tools/sites out there that scanned the entire IPV4 range and hosts a mc server which then shows that info publicly. If anything you should be more concerned about those tools.

I dont really think it matters if they use google forms. its an easy to use tool and its 24/7, i dont think they really need cryptpad also this point seems irrelevent to the issue.

Ps. If you got an issue with seedcracking just use papers random seed feature with changing spigot seeds or a custom world gen
