2.start a conversation, insert screenshot

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i) pidgin crashes or
ii) a dialog pops up An other program has requested to use the display,
canceling... then try inserting screenshot again, pidgin crashes

What version of the plugin are you using? On what operating system?
0.8-2
arch linux + awesome wm + pidgin 2.7.1

Please provide any additional information below.

Thanks, if you try "html upload" with any small part of your screen (select
imageshack from the preferences windows), does it work out ? I'm trying to
isolate the problem.

One more question : did you install any previous version of the plugin ? did
it/they worked ?

i'd like to confirm that this problem also exists on one of my computers only.
the second computer does not experience this problem. both computers run pidgin
2.7.1 and pidgin-sendscreenshot 0.8-2. what ixyleexyg described is exactly how
the crash works for me too. the computer experiencing the problem runs windows
XP SP3. the crash occurs when i try to send the screenshot as an HTML upload or
as an embedded image. i haven't tried the FTP option.

previous version of the plugin, 0.8-1, did not cause this crash. nor did i ever
see the pop-up dialog saying "another program has requested to use the display"
in that version.

Hello OmniWig, thanks for your report.
1/ Could you please tell me whether the libpurple version installed on your two
computers is the same ? ("Help" menu, then "about").

2/ Does the crash occur everytime you try to insert an image ? Or is it random ?

3/ When does the crash occur exactly ? Before the screen freezes ? After ?
While you're selecting the capture area ?

1) on the computer with the issue, libpurple is 2.7.1. on the computer without
the issue, it is also 2.7.1.

2) the crashing is random, but more likely to happen after pidgin has been open
a while. after a pidgin crash, i start pidgin, and then the screenshot will
usually go through.

3) the crash happens after the screen freezes, but not until i begin selecting
the capture area. it seems to happen as soon as the mouse clicks down to begin
selecting the capture area.

hope that helps.

This bug should be hopefully fixed in 0.8-2. I need to run more tests. New
version come asap.

I was able to reproduce the crash when I minimize the current conversation
windows (3rd mouse button).
