Hello, thank you for your report.
I'm trying to fix this issue and if nothing goes wrong a fix should be
available in
the next coming release (0.8-2 coming in one week).
Reason of this bug is: Pidgin 2.7.0 added link support (insert -> link) for ICQ
protocol.

Hmmm... not easy to solve.
The problem is, there is no way to know the Pidgin version used by a contact.
The
Pidgin development team unfortunately considered that everyone would quickly
upgrade
to 2.7.0 when they added support for sending and receiving HTML-formatted
messages...
So, this is actually a Pidgin bug (see http://developer.pidgin.im/ticket/11836).
What to do now ? Wait for a fix ? Send full-text links when using ICQ ?

Just updated to 2.7.1 and although the ticket is marked as closed the problem
still
remains. I would prefer to send full-text links when using ICQ, because it's
annoying
not to know if your contact is able to see the link or not. BTW not just user of
pre-2.7-pidgin, but also adium user are having this problem!

According to the comments, patch will be merged against libpurple 2.7.2 :
"Yeah, that was unfortunate. The whole patch has now been merged to the main
branch,
but it looks like it won't go into 2.7.1, since it's just about to release.
You'll
have to wait for 2.7.2. Sorry for the inconvenience."
