Windows XP-like zoom tool rectangle

Thank you for making jspaint, I like it a lot.

One of the primary features missing for me is an MSPaint feature from Windows XP. When you select the zoom tool, a rectangle should appear surrounding the part of the canvas that would constitute the new canvas view. For whatever reason, my mental model really relies on this feature existing.

I couldn't find an existing issue for this, but perhaps my search-fu isn't strong enough.

As a sidenote, is there an issue tracking Windows XP feature parity/skinning? I prefer XP since it's what I did most of my art on :)

The zoom tool preview is already implemented. Are you on https://jspaint.app or some other instance?

Oh, somehow I misdiagnosed my problem. (It was a combination of misremembering from a while ago when I tried, and too-quickly trying to reproduce it just before writing this.)

But let me revise, because there's still two features I miss:

• In Windows XP, when you select the zoom tool and then the level of magnification, the only thing that happens is that the preview rectangle gets smaller. In the Windows 98 version and in JSPaint, when you click the level of magnification, the canvas resizes immediately to the upper-leftmost region, which is frustrating when trying to get to a specific part of the canvas.
• In Windows XP, once you click on the part of the canvas to zoom into, the zoom tool is deselected and your previous tool is re-selected. In Windows 98 and JSPaint, the zoom tool stays selected, and you have to go fetch your previous tool.

Does this make sense? I really am wishing for a "Windows XP" mode, checkable in some settings menu, that implements these and other XP-98 asymmetrical behavior pairs.

This has all been implemented, thanks! (According to the changelog it was even done by the time I posted this, so I'm guessing I was stuck on an old cached version of the webapp or something...)
