Okay, wowow — I'm having some issues getting the physics working nicely on my WIP cardboard basemap.
We're going to have to take a pause on this, I think it's going to take some serious research into new tech to come up with a system for this.
It might turn out to be easier to integrate with the physics engine and worthwhile to actually build a basemap sculpting and painting tool that works directly in the game engine.
@Loonietoon — hold off on #66 until this is sorted out.
Goddamn it, closing this ticket is invalid because of AkkadianGames/Susa#15.
A basemap is simply the backdrop for a map. You start with a basemap, then with the map editor, you plunk down props and entities, and save all of that into your map file.
We might eventually have many basemaps in the art directory. Example ideas:
For now, we need cardboard and entity programming for the a basemap, so artists can start making basemaps that we can bring right into the game.
