fyi, reason this needs to be done is that the surface hitting the beams is transparent now and doesn't pick up the super bright lighting, needs to be faked now.
WRONG. Can't do this because depth fade is only affected by opaque surfaces. Other translucent surfaces don't trigger it. FIND ANOTHER WAY TO FAKE THIS.
