The idea of this game mode is that two players play a marathon game at the same time, sending no garbage to each other. If the player with the fewest points tops out, the other player wins. If the player with the most points tops out, a timer is set for two minutes for the other player to pass his score. If he succeeds, he wins. If he doesn't, he loses.
If there are more than two people playing this, the leader fails, and one person beats him, the timer is paused, but not reset. Then if the new leader fails, the timer continues where it left off.
