Windows software does not capture all 4 inputs at the same time. It is only
able to capture one input at a time, so video will be switching every 1 second
beween 1-4 inputs

Aah, that makes sense. In that case, how hard would it be for the
somagic-capture program to do the same, either on a timer, or every N frames,
or based on some external signal (keyboard input, SIGUSR1/2, etc)?

IIRC, it switches every frame, so you get 7.5fps (NTSC) 6.25fps (PAL). That'd
be nice if somagic-capture could do it. If I understand correctly, this would
require a usb trace from this kind of capture to figure out the sequences of
i2c commands to write?

I have a Windows 7 installation on this system that can boot natively or in
vmware, and four video sources handy, so if someone can provide instructions on
how to capture the trace, I'll happily do it.

I have problems in the video images. Photo in site below. I already tried all
examples and also use mplay and vlc.
For example:
somagic-capture | mplayer -vf yadif, screenshot -demuxer -rawvideo rawvideo
"pal: format = UYVY: fps = 25" -aspect 4: 3 -
