[Goal] Deploy and run dedicated cloud infrastructure for CZI grant

One of the major goals from our CZI grant is to deploy and run dedicated infrastructure for communities of practice in Latin America and Africa. This is a tracking issue to describe the major things we need to accomplish in this goal and to discuss major strategy.

Overall goals

These are the major goals that we are responsible for leading on this project. Note that we will have collaborators and resources via the grant, but we will likely need to lead efforts of strategy and planning.

• Run dedicated infrastructure for communities in Latin America and Africa, to be used during training workshops.
• Infrastructure should facilitate cloud-native workflows in biomedicine
• Provide ongoing support for the infrastructure for these communities throughout the grant
• Provide mentorship to an engineer from a university in Cordoba who will join our engineering team during this grant

Resources available to us

• Funds to cover one cloud engineer for two years
• An engineer to work on our cloud engineering team from a university in Cordoba

Is this particular issue still the correct one to use for the "tracking issue" cloud deployment for the CZI project?

I think that is your and @damianavila's decision to make. I think issue and the parent issue below was to provide our team visibility and accountability for our commitments, but you two should use the system that maximizes our probability of being successful on the project.

I think this issue is OK to keep the "goal perspective" of the idea of "deploying and running cloud infra for the CZI grant". Now, actual new issues inside the infrastructure repo will be created as we decompose this "goal" into a fine-grained specific set of actions, IMHO.
