G1 loses charge when plugged in and tethering #114

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.G1 charging via stock A/C charger or USB
2.3G tethering

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.51 / JF 1.5 CRB43

Please provide any additional information below.

phone loses 1% of battery approx every 1-2 mins when charging via A/C or
USB. Have tried two phones, batteries and chargers.

Is this happening due to the wifi and radio chipsets consuming more power
than the a/c charger or usb can provide to keep the battery charged and
maintained? or is it due to a software bug in either the Android version
or the wifi tether app?

Yes, exactly ... but the power consumption depends on the signal level (radio
mobile-
network: good signal-strength -> less output-power; weak signal-strength ->
higher
output-power). The handset was not designed to do what this application does
(edge/3g
and wifi enabled at the same time).
Anyway ... try bluetooth-tethering - should consume less power.
