Unable to start tethering - please try again #117

What steps will reproduce the problem?
This is a brand spanking new, out of the box, Android Dev Phone 1.
1. Flashed phone with cupcake radio/recovery images for 1.5 (adb method)
2. Installed .97, and it upgraded automatically to 1.51.
3. Reinstalled 1.51 apk from the web site.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I click "Start Tethering" I expect it to being tethering. Instead, it
(invariably) returns "unable to start tethering. please try again."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Android Dev Phone 1
Cupcake (1.5) - flashed to phone wiht 1.5 ota radio/ and recovery image
using adb method.
Using 1.51.

Update: when i install, it says "Not Root!" and asks me to override the
settings.
It's my understanding that I have Root access on the phone by virtue of the
fact
that it's a Dev Phone 1.

I uninstalled the version I had, and reinstalled "only" the 1.51 signed version
of
the software in the process listed as "Updated:" above.

Please correct me if I'm wrong here...as I don't wanna be that noob who is not
working because he didn't setup the phone properly. doh!

Well, I am fixed now. :) Here's how:

1. I did a full wipe of the phone data (not a factory reset, a recovery console
wipe).

2. I installed the htc provided OTA radio image (from HTC's web site) for 1.5.

3. I installed JFv1.51.CRB43-ADP to the phone.

4. Upon reboot, I installed v 1.51 of the WiFi Tether for Root Users. During
the
installation, I enabled non-market apps (of course), and chose "Always" from
the
root permission request.

5. I set it to use Bluetooth, and not change WiFi settings (WiFi encryption
enabled)...and clicked Start Tethering.

The application started just fine.

Whenever i try and connect to the tether network for my samsung galaxy
GT-I7500, it ALWAYS said "unable to start tethering. Please try again" Do you
know why this is?
