Tether to WiFi network via Bluetooth? #131

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Want to use Android to talk to WiFi network, then tether via BlueTooth
2. Setup: Use Bluetooth and Don't disable WiFi both checked
3. Start tethering

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

What I want to see is tethering working. Instead I get "Unable to start
tethering. Please try again."

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Android devphone, 1.5 Cupcake. WTfRU 1.51.

Can you suggest the settings I need to use to get this to work?

Right now I have "Use Bluetooth" and "Don't disable WiFi" both checked. On the
main
screen, "Bluetooth" is at the top right. It appears to start tethering OK, but
no
data traffic. As far as I can tell, the phone is paired with my computer (Mac)
but it
is not connected to my computer. Whose responsibility is it to connect the
phone and
the computer - the phone's or the computer's? (I can't seem to make either
connect
with the other.)

I don't have a MAC here. Maybe this link helps:

Ah, that was a good pointer. Thanks. The trick to make it connected is to start
tethering on the Android THEN "connect" using Bluetooth on the Mac, which you
can do
from the Bluetooth icon in the menu bar. It's now successfully tethering
WiFi->Android->Bluetooth->Mac.
