Phone in unknown state #145

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install custom rom for the Hero from Modaco
2. Startup wifi-tether
3. Shutdown wifi-thether

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect the program to stop wifi-tethering. Instead I see a 'Phone is in
unknown state, try rebooting'

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Using 1.52 and android custom Modaco Rom (2.73) for the Hero

Please provide any additional information below.

I saw the problem several times on the Modaco forum. So it is not just me.
After it gives the notification, I am no longer able to start wifi-tether
and actually connect my computer to the phone.

I also get this,

The log shows:

Unloading wlan.ko module...
rmmod: delete_module 'wlan' failed
(errno 11)
failed

I am using version 2.0 ROM from the following Page

http://android.modaco.com/content/htc-hero-hero-modaco-com/292018/04-09-2-0-the-
modaco-custom-rom-is-here-2-versions-based-on-the-new-update/

After you got such an error could you please open a command-prompt (terminal)
and type:

lsmod

Please post the output. lsmod will give you all kernel-modules which are
currently
loaded. I'm interested if the wlan.ko-module was successfully unloaded or not.

Thanks.

Please provide "adb logcat" traces as well.
See: http://developer.android.com/guide/developing/tools/adb.html

And how can I execute the lsmod command?
Once I enter the lsmod command in adb shell, there is nothing displayed. It is
executed correctly though, cause is causes no error..

Could you please check the following *AFTER* receiving such a "unknown state"
message:

Open a terminal-emulator (or you could do that via adb) and type:

1) "ps" (without quotes)
Do you see a line similar to this one:
root 982 1 784 324 c00b2ffc afe0c584 S
/data/data/android.tether/bin/dnsmasq

2) "cat /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward"
What is returned 1 or 0?
