when using 3DStreet the other day, the little green blob that says 'file saved or object saved' appeared with 10 bubbles stacked on top of each other stretching across the whole screen top to bottom. An alternative could be where the 'save' button is maybe alternate between save, saving, and saved (with color coding?) or text just above the save button saying saving or saved (or nothing, meaning it needs to be saved still).
