FW upload not possible - stk500_getsync() error #15

Hi,

I tried to upload the original unmodded Firmware. After a successfull compilation it throws

"avrdude: stk500_getsync() attempt 10 of 10: not in sync: resp=0xe0" (with attempts 1-9 before of course)

grafik

I tried the new bootloader afterwards but it also did not work. Anyone knows what could be wrong?

I tried the new bootloader afterwards but it also did not work. I had the very same issue, but after switching back to new 328P Bootloader, it uploaded FW and started heating. Now display tells me "No tip connected" So far, experience with this kit is rather frustrating. How about a kit that has FW preloaded or at least a package that includes all libraries. Too much guess work involved and certainly NOT suitable for educational purposes as level of frustration is built-in.

Well mine was already flashed and I have a mostly working pen. However, I want to change the temperatures and speeds and that can only be achieved via FW edit, not on the pen itself. At least this was the case with the currently installed FW when the pen was delivered, maybe the newest FW does allow that - just like the Freemode-Pull-Request.

@apphead Your error rather is rather relying on a poor connection than on the FW I guess. However, you may try the Freemode-FW from AnTi-ArT. I am just a bit confused because it was released in 2018... . Seems like it was for the Kit 1 but Github says there are no conflicts.

Let me know if you try it and if it works.

The poor connection can be improved by getting that mainboard one or two millimeters more to the front. I melted the casing on the two PCB-contact areas with a soldering iron to achieve that. As your nozzle heats despite the no-connection-info I would try plug the tip on the mainboard without the main case and see if that works beforehand.

I gave up on the pen. Don't like to spend 50 bucks to find out that it is a banana product that ripens at the customers place. Plus, most likely, there is no thermal runaway protection, which basically means the pen could light up in your hands. Given the alpha stage of it.....no thanks. But thanks for getting back @Demolux and have

Hi, I got the same error. I have 3D simo Kit 2. I changed the processor from "ATmega328P" to "ATmega328P (Old Bootloader)" and new firmware updated succesfully. 3DsimoKit2ArduinoFirmwareUpdate
