Display shows 153° as lowest "measured" temperatur #4

I like the new Off mode in 3DsimoKit_JC3D.ino (with target temperatur: 0°). But I'm a bit confused: The "measured" temperature does never fall below 153°. I took the leap and touched the 153°-hot-offmode-nozzle and (luckily) it was pretty cold. So I guess the value on the display is wrong? And the nozzle can heat to temperatures below 153°?

This would also be important for low temperature filaments like PCL. Which can be used at 50° - 70° and is therefore perfect for kids.

I'm working on a "freemode" control scheme for the 3Dsimo Kit where the user can control temperature and Speed directly without profiles. However this limit of the temperature reading makes it impossible to use temperatures below 153°C. Is this the minimum temperature of the tip? It looks to me like the reading of the NTC is faulty. Shouldn't it be room temperature ~20°C when the tip is cold?

It would be cool if you can say what this reading of 153°C means. I'd prefer to not temper around with that code. Experimenting with the tip sounds dangerous...

Edit: ...and is there a Maximum temperature setting for the tip?

When you are reading temperature 153C, this is correct. When you are trying to read temperature below 153C, you will always get 1020-1023 ADU from ADC converter as you can see in the following image. image Reading below 153C is only possible by changing resistor R4 to a higher value. For PCL material I prefer to change R4 by 10kOhms.

Thank you, this helped a lot. For now I implemented an "OFF" mode into my Freemode project. It has to work with unmodified 3Dsimo Kit pens, too.

I will later research and figure out if I really want to change the resistor 😱

Maybe the official firmware should output a "low" instead of "153" temperature on the screen to indicate, that it is "somewhere below 153, may be room temperature, may be 152°C".

I noticed that the R4 resistor is extremely small and close to this black connector for the pins. I could never change it on my own! But if you ever put spare parts and alternative parts in your online shop, I would buy it!

Is that profile supports continuous extrusion aswell ?

Just bought the 3Dsimo kit and wondering if it is possible to configure it for PCL. Did you managed somehow to measure and set temp below 153°C and use PCL materials without changing the resistor? Or did someone tried to change the resistor?

How can I get the temperature calculation from ADU for different R4 resistances in case I decide to change the resisor? I assume I will ned to change the FW code as well.

I havent tried to set it below 155c. Try to change the temperature from the firmware code for pcl.

I assume from what AnTi-ArT and najtvis mentioned, that it cannot be done without HW tweaking ...

Really nice thanks a lot for that but it is normal that after x press of a button it freeze ?

I found that the problem was my usb to power adapter when iin my pc no problem but it always happen on my power adapter
