Name field is too restrictive #3

Open 4llysa opened 3 months ago

4llysa commented 3 months ago

The name field only allows alphanumeric characters and spaces, which means that TAs are not able to include characters that may be in the government name of students.

For example: udhaya s/o shan tan xin en, trina huang wei'en

Even though the DG mentioned a planned enhancement of using matric number as the unique identifier, this still does not solve the problem of the name field being too restrictive.

Arguably, the severity of this FeatureFlaw could be pushed to medium because the users who are TAs should be able to record the student's official name as in NRIC which are allowed to have special characters.

Unable to add a name with special characters

As shown here, users are unable to add a name with special characters such as /, ,. Even though we can work around it, but it could bring some minor inconveniences to the users.
