Here's a draft quality language file for Western Frisian.
It contains Unicode characters - does that give problems?

I think it would be good that once a language file is "in progress" or "almost"
ready, its language would be added to the list of "good languages" in the
trunk, so
the translators would be able to test their file for "real" and make the latest
adjustements.
Then the file could be added back to the stable release if we want that too.
Does this sound alright?
There are two more translations in progress: Western Frisian (Frysk) by Wandel
Nauta,
and Hindi, by Tavish.

r1219 adds the Frisian translation, and Frisian and Hindi should now display in
the
good languages in svg-editor.html in trunk.
Now you can test! And thanks /a lot/ for this translation!

There's a problem with the Frisian translation (tested on Safari) - the Unicode
characters show up as ?
Also, some strings remain untranslated - the menu is still in English and
'opac' or 'size' isn't really Frisian either
(on http://svg-edit.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/editor/svg-editor.html, try the
Font tool) Did I mess up here?
Original comment by wna...@gmail.com

The menu still in English isn't the language file's fault, this will be fixed
shortly.
"Opac" has no ID, so is untranslated in all languages (this is a general bug in
the UI).
"size" in the font tool: I think you just found another one which has no ID,
nice catch!
r1223 tries to make lang.fy.js file have the proper UTF-8 format, see if this
helps?

:( It doesn't. Accented characters show up as óther accented characters.
(Ïfbrekke ynstead of Ôfbrekke)

Thanks for the translation file, zenixls2!
Wormsxulla, can we only add new translation files to the trunk (2.5)? As the
code
evolves away from 2.4, we may end up getting very confused.

Yes, fine by me. I think I've only added the new languages (Frisian, Hindi,
Russian,
Arabic) to the trunk so far, I haven't touched Arbelos.
Would you like me to add zh-TW to the list of good languages?

@ zenixls2:
Two more little things, if you don't mind:
1) If you wish to appear in the AUTHORS page for this translation credit, could
you
give your name and email address, please? You can mail it at wormsxulla at
yahoo.com
if you prefer.
2) I'm not sure how to properly write "Chinese for Taiwan" in Chinese, for the
language choice which appears in the Document properties.
I've looked at
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Language_names
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Languages_of_Taiwan
and
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ISO_639-1_codes
but it didn't help me much.
So, once we have these two things, I'll commit the new zh-TW file to the trunk
:-)
Thank you again!

@ zenixls2:
With M**k's help, I solved the issue 2) in my earlier comment - thank you Mook!
-, so
it leaves only the author's issue.
Committed to trunk in r1309, unfortunately switching languages is not working
at the
moment (issue 451).

To all translators:
Today, we updated the commit policy. From now on, all translators can commit
directly to the code base via SVN or using the easy web interface. Please see:
https://code.google.com/p/svg-edit/wiki/CommitPolicy
Please review all translations to check status as this ticket will eventually
be closed.
SVG-edit 2.6 will be released January 15th, 2013. If you can commit your
translations before then, that would be awesome.
Thanks!!
