I still experience connection problems with my Z5 that make the flics unusable. There have been an update for the Flic software and I received a handset firmware update yesterday but the problems remain.
After resetting bluetooth the flics will work fine for a while but if I try after a longer period 1 hour or so most of the time the flics will not respond or are unreliable. Some won't do anything, some flics will trigger after a long delay of sometimes minutes.
I also notice a problem with my bluetooth headset that will not re-connect anymore unless I reset the bluetooth. If I uninstall the flic app there are no problems anymore with the headset re-connecting. Also not after a long period. So it looks like the flic app is not working well with the Z5 bluetooth stack.
I hope a solution is coming soon because it is a shame that these wonderfull flics cannot be used right now.
Hello Rene!
We are aware of the problems with the Sony Bluetooth stack. And we are constantly trying to improve our app.
Regarding your BLE headset that doesn't work. Most Android devices has a limit of 7-8 connected devices at the same time (Sony might have another number). I don't know how many BLE-products you are using, but try to decrease the number and see if it works better.
The Sony BLE stack is bad, but should be not THAT bad. I mean, I'm using a Sony Xperia Z3. And like once every two days the Flic doesn't react (for like 10 minutes, then it connects again). I'm using three Flics and no other BLE hardware.
Hello Philip,
Thanks for your reply. I don't know why I get a much worse experience. One thing I noticed on the Z5 compared to my Xperia Z is that it seems to go quickly in a sort a sleep state. I notice this when using my BLE heartrate device. If I wake up the phone the heartrate monitor starts processing several minutes of readings it is behind. I have turned all stamina and power savings off but that does not make a difference. The Z5 has a bigger screen and smaller battery. They market a 2 day battery life so I suspect that they are trying to do some 'smart' battery saving that is messing up the BLE.
