This is not part of the RS protocol draft yet (or actually not anymore at the moment), but being discussed in https://github.com/remotestorage/spec/issues/158. Let's see if it breaks any known app. If it doesn't, we could roll it out for developers to play with.

I added the proposed change, but the specs aren't being run for this PR.
