Searches not connecting (GGG changed rate limits) #111

From the comment above GGG have stated that they are blocking some third party programs pinging their server too much. I believe this is one of them. I've tested multiple items that should be showing up in my searches but are not popping up in my "results" tab. Is anyone else running into this?

I don't think this is related to us. Our app respects rate-limits (and if they changed it we will adjust). Also, whether or not you use poe-live-search-manager should be transparent to GGG. From their perspective, it should be the same as if you're using the browser.

I have also noticed the app not working today. It used to run flawlessly but today it's not finding anything despite a live search in browser finding plenty. I've signed in an out, changed and double checked my Session ID, and tried everything else I could think of but nothing has worked.

Something is definitely up.

We can confirm that the app is not working due to changed rate limitations. Working on a fix.

We pick up these changes so I still don't get how / why it would be broken, perhaps it was also misconfigured on GGG side.

In any case, we'll see if we can get even more careful around this topic.

Resolved in v1.11.4. Unfortunately, GGG doesn't respect their own rate-limiting rules set at 6 requests per 4 seconds. We basically had to trial & error to see what the actual numbers are. Seems to be 1 request/second at this point. We've adjusted our settings, hopefully they will fix it and communicate better next time.

Hi there, as of just now (04.06.2020 at 5:53 a.m. eastern standard time) I am still not able to get any searches to connect.

I'm also running v1.11.4

Hey @Herrm2291, could you go through the troubleshooting list and report back? v1.11.4 was working fine for us.

So it looks like the issue is on GGG's side. My apologies for not checking this first but when I open up a search and turn on live search, I get the following errors:

Are you seeing the same issue with the live search on their site also?

I can't connect. Downloaded 30 minutes ago! have checked everything on the troubleshoot! Green rate indicator works, checked session ID, updated to the 20 search .YML file Live search seems to be working fine on the 2-3 items i trialed And i get notifications. image

I have the same exact problem. I used this around the time of tripolarbear's first video using this program. As of 2 days ago it stopped connecting entirely. I have fully uninstalled, reinstalled, tried it on a different computer, done just 1 item searches, you name it. It just magically stopped connecting the searches though and the main website activates live search without any issues... I noticed I was temp blocked on the official website like Herrm was as I was still using 1.11.3 and didn't update it the day it came out. That's around the time the program stopped connecting even though live search was available again to be used on the official site. I really wish someone would make a program like this that uses poe.trade instead, their websocket live search is infinitely smoother than the official pathofexile.com/trade site. Only problem is I am a total addict with the auto-whisper function +AHK copy/paste with this program. =)

I had this issue a few days ago. I was able to fix it by logging out of pathofexile.com then logging back in. I think it had soft banned me from searching or something. I had to log out and back in 3 time but it finally started working again and has since. Hope this helps some of the people commenting. And of course you'll have a new sessionid when you do this.

@Shortbread304 I tried, no luck. Relog 5x, ensure sessid was correct, reinstalled again, still won't connect.

It connected again for about 2 solid days and now isn't working again. Simply won't connect. Tried everything like single searches, confirming live searches work on the official site, double checking and relogging for new SSID's, you name it, and it's just not working again. It's as if there is some long term temp banning going on for using live searches too often. I actively have it running almost all day when it's working and then it seems to stop for a few days all together with this program even though live searches (official site) still work. shrug

Does this have something to do with the fact that the offical site is now requiring a captcha to view the website? This just started yesterday for me, does it exist for anyone else??

Yes, as written in the troubleshooting guide.

Again, normally this app should be transparent to GGG, i.e. it's the same as using the website. They now seem to go around changing and breaking things for everyone, which is unfortunate. I still believe the app should mostly work when you follow the troubleshooting guide. When it's really not working we'll get many people reporting the same issue.

Ty for the response, I already tried to release/renew my ip to no avail. When I woke up this morning though it was magically working again. I truly believe they keep breaking things that lead to temp bans of my ip. There are about 3 big forum posts from the past 48 hours of them breaking API and causing temp bans of lots of people. Would be nice if they'd stop being lazy about their poor market and make a real one in-game. =)
