Hmm... this morning, I'm being asked to sign in to the G/Cal gadget; however,
when I
enter my password and click the 'Sign in' box, I again get the "You need an
internet
connection to use this gadget" message. :-(

After the weekend, I'm no longer able to log into my calendar. The gadget keeps
telling "You need an internet connection to use this gadget".

I have had Google Desktop Enterprise installed for months. Just tried to
install the
Calendar gadget, and got the same error message consistently. It just won't
connect
at all. And right below it, the Google Talk gadget is connected.

I have the same problem, I just can't login to my calendar anymore.
It worked for months but just stopped working two days ago.
Some information that may help :
- I am behind a proxy.
- the gadget METEO works fine (so google desktop has access to internet).
- I can access my calendar through a web browser.
Is there any way to collect information from google desktop to report better
information about the issue?

Same problem. I cannot log in and I see the error message "You need an internet
connection to use this gadget" even though I have used the Calendar gadget
successfully before.

I installed the gadget and everything worked fine for few minutes. But after
that, I started receiving same error "You need an internet connection to use
this gadget" and when I click on it, it disappears for 3-4 seconds and comes
back. I cannot sign out and sign in again.
But, if I remove and add the gadget, I can work with it for few minutes; after
that, that error pops up again.

If you do get the 'needs an internet....' message it means that your IE
connection setting is not set up correctly - the widget looks at IE to see how
it should connect. This happened to me as I use Firefox and had forgotten to
reset the connection setting info in IE after it was updated.

Followed comment 12 and this problem was sorted out. Works like a charm now!

I don't know how to apply the hint in Comment 12. My IE is working fine. My
IE options/connections show "3G connection" and "AT&T Network Client" in the
dial-up/vpn section. I selected "Never dial a connection", but that didn't
seem to help. Lan settins say automatically detect settings which is what I've
always used in the past.
