netvibes OPML... #23

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Export an OPML file from your netvibes account.
2. Upload the OPML file to your website so you can download it via a URL.
3. Import the OPML file by using your website URL

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I dont see anything, i say OK to the import but nothing gets imported.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I think the latest, i clicked on
http://www.substanceofcode.com/downloads/midlets/midp20_RSSReader.jar saved
the file to my desktop, transferred the file to my phone (n80) and
installed the application.

Please provide any additional information below.
Nokia N80, tested via GPRS.

Thanks for submitting your issue.
The version linked to on Tommi's site is not the latest version. There is a
bug
fixed later where import will import only one item by replacing the currently
selected bookmark/feed. Please use the downloads tab to get the latest
version. If
you still have problems, can you submit a comment and attach the OPML to it?
In the
mean time, I will try to use netvibes. Also, the version gives an error
message if
it does not support the format. Another possiblity is that the import uses the
titles from the OPML as feed names. If you already have existing feeds with
the
same name, then it will not import. A workaround is to delete the feeds with
the
saem name (assuming that they were previously imported from the OPML) or
re-name
them. I'm working on version 1.10.5 so if a fix is needed, I may be able to
include
it.

Nope I tried the latest version, don't see a change, well I do. This time I can
see
the that its importing but it stops real soon, I don't think it has anything to
do
with my connection. I don't get any errors, basically nothing happens, it just
goes
back to the default screen after I say ok to import.

I have attached the OPML file to the reply.

Hi.

I will look into this. At first, I thought that I had duplicated the problem
as
feeds which lack a title in the OPML file cause problsms. This happens for
feeds
that are not the feeds that can be selected from the netvibes menu. These
feeds
netvibes takes the title from the feed, but does not put the title in OPML.
Looking
at your file, that is not the case as all the feeds have a title. So, I will
have
to look further.

Hi,

You are using version 1.10.4 right?
I put your OPML file on http://rssreader.freewebpage.org/netvibes.opml, but
could
not reproduce the problem. How many feeds do you have? I think that this may
be
because the number of feeds causes a memory overflow as the feed has a lot of
links
and it is possible that you also have many links more.

Regards,

Irving

Can you try the latest version 1.10.5 and go to settings and give me memory and
db
memory? In a later release, I'm thinking of putting current feeds into store
to
save on memory, but this would only work if there is enough db memory left.

I have not heard back on this for a year so I'm closing it. I'm not able to
duplicate.

Sorry didn't close this.
Gave up the N80 a little after my last post, moved to the iPhone.
