Desktop Application #15

Dear,

Our developers, for many reasons, have to open and close browser often. Do you have a plan to make a "kitten app" for desktop (eventually for mobile) in order to start working with pomodoro technique without lost "alarms"? In case will be good also to include pomodoro technique within Timetracker desktop app.

Also will be good if we can:

  1. look for work item by name (like in timetracker app)
  2. assign activity type
  3. after a configurable amount of time, if user doesn't starts the break it will be skipped automatically to next round like if it was started at break time (the result should be two working round consecutive)
  4. add a way to make own badges based on simple rules

The most important feature for PMO are:

  1. a web page to see who is working and on which task (like it is now), connected with a desktop app to delivery alarms
  2. have an alarm to know when a developer is not working, but the alarm should starts after a delay of time (not immediately) to avoid false positives

Hi Michael! I'm Sascha, Product Manager here at 7pace. At the moment, Kitten is a labs project that we built for our internal use and decided to share in case it would be of use to others. As such, the usage is extremely low and adding features to it is not something that we have in our short to mid term plans.

That being said, I'm currently reviewing the usage and possibilities of this app so suggestions such as yours are quite helpful. I am curious about the PMO features you mentioned however, if I understand correctly you would like to see "live" who is working on what and have us notify you if a developer is on "break time" or if his tracker isn't running? Am I understanding you correctly?

@SaschaZierfuss

Exactly. PMO need to know if, for some reason, a dev isn't working. This to avoid that a dev is in real working on something not tracked under a work item. e.g.: An helpdesk team member can try to scale to 2nd level for a bug not tracked and it will distract dev which will not set properly hours spent on different task than one planned. Moreover a PMO can make wrong sprint, and can happens that a dev close its task early.

From kitten web page, a PMO can see a list of devs and on what task they are working on. Also on the right of list there is a"bell" icon that from my understanding will alert when dev isn't working. So pretty close to our needs.

Thank you for the suggestions, I'll be keeping that in mind when we next work on Kitten and it's functionality.

Just adding on that this would be fantastic and really encourage adoption. Even if it's just an electron based wrapper or something
