It would be nice if Niagara would switch to material design 3 elements such as a square floating action button rather than the round one from previous iterations of material design.

Hi @pwd-github, thank you for your suggestion. I believe that the current Circle shape Niagara button is a good fit for the Niagara design. However, I am uncertain if the change would be welcomed by everyone and may require adding a toggle, which conflicts with our Design Principles.

I will keep this issue open for our dev team to review it.

Why would it need a toggle? If implemented properly, it would display a squircle on Android 13 and a circle lower

We're big fans of Material Design 3, but we haven't really thought about how we're going to integrate it in the launcher yet.

In the future, we'll definitely try it out!

As @Amorphous404 said, it could become a challenge to change the Niagara Button while keeping everyone happy. So thanks for your suggestion for switching it depending on the Android Version! This might come in handy :+1:

Maybe a reasonable compromise would be to have the Niagara button follow the shape selected in "Icon shape"?
