Hi there,
Thanks for reporting this issue.
We have had similar reports in the past since some Android flavors lead to incompatibilities between the home animations and third-party launchers.
Please try the following workaround.
Click this link on your phone or type /togglecloseappanimation
into Niagara's app search and then hit enter. This should disable the animation completely and stop it from lagging.
Please let me know if that helps.
@TFackler Turning off the animation makes things a little bit better, but it still feels like the launcher is not as responsive as it usually is.
Try revoking access to notifications (and turning off notification-related features). Not a solution of course, but it appears to be the root cause
Disabling the notifications makes no difference to me. The latest update to Nothing OS 2.5.5 has made the animations a little smoother, but there are still glitches.
That update hasn't rolled out to me yet, but the changelog does mention compatibility with third-party launchers. Curious to see what changes on my end when I get it.
Describe the bug
When you return to the home screen, the animation usually stutters, but sometimes the launcher doesn’t even show the icons. I’ve been using Niagara on different devices for a long time on different devices and I’ve never had any problems with the animations.
Changing the screen refresh rate from dynamic with up to 120 Hz to static 60 Hz makes the animation more reliable but still jerky.
On my wife’s Redmii Note 11s there’s no animation at all—the home screen just fades in—but that’s even better and could be a workaround for the Nothing Phone too.
I have attached a video file showing the behaviour with dynamic and static refresh rate.
