Dynamic Calendar and Clock icons #533

Hi.. Can you make the calendar and clock icon following real life time? Thanks. Very nice launcher.. Use it now..😀😀

Rod911 commented 5 years ago

Not sure if that's necessary, you already have a time and date on the home screen. While showing the date on the icon does make sense, why do you want the time?

8bitPit commented 5 years ago

Hey @rredoh, currently I've got no time for that, but I keep that in mind.

@Rod911 I'm just got used to xiaomi's default icon. @8bitPit Sure. Just focus on more important feature first. It's just a suggestion for adding a small detail. I love your launcher because it's simple and makes my slow phone faster

I also think it doesn't make much sense, but I recall the 'live' clock icon being an option on the Rootless Pixel Launcher. Maybe Pixel phones have that, or maybe simply people enjoy such feature.

I would love a dynamic calendar icon!

To better plan ahead and to give users an estimate which features will be added to Niagara, I’ve decided to close all feature requests that that are unlikely to be implemented in the next year (2020). This is one of those, unfortunately. I'm sorry. Feel free to open this ticket again in 2021 or later.

Hey I'm an icon pack developer here, and just wanted to say that having a dynamic calendar and clock would be a nice small detail to have :-)

Nova made some docs on how to implement calendars here: https://github.com/teslacoil/Example_NovaTheme/blob/master/DynamicCalendarIconAPI.md

The creator from Kvaesitso Launcher also made a guide for icon pack devs on how to implement it: https://kvaesitso.mm20.de/docs/developer-guide/integrations/icon-packs/#clock-icons

It also would be great if it supported layer-list based icons instead of only adaptive icons, like this example (it allows for transparency): https://github.com/Donnnno/Arcticons/blob/main/app/src/main/res/drawable-nodpi-v26/clock.xml

Thanks a lot for the great launcher!
