"Libertarian Communism", or just Anarcho-Communism? #165

Open QuebecHuh opened 2 years ago

QuebecHuh commented 2 years ago

Hello guys!

I found something confusing in the test.

Generally, Anarcho-Communism and "Libertarian Communism" mean the same things (again, generally speaking).

But there's a problem. If you answer more internationally, you'll be labelled a "Libertarian Communist", but if you answer more neutrally, or even more nationalisticly, you're labelled an Anarcho-Communist, even though there is no difference between the two. Being more globally focused doesn't mean you can't be an Anarcho-Communist, but they're still labelled differently.

I'm not trying to rant about my results. It's just confusing. What's the reasoning behind it? And if there's insufficient justification for this, could you consider maybe getting rid of "Libertarian Communism" and just sticking to Anarcho-Communism in general?

Thanks, Quebec.

Anarcho-communists are not communists, they are just anarchists. They do not seem to understand dialectical materialism and the withering away of the state as opposed to its immediate abolition, its immediate abolition as anarchists believe in is a utopian idea.

“Some people believe that Marxism and anarchism are based on the same principles and that the disagreements between them concern only tactics, so that, in the opinion of these people, no distinction whatsoever can be drawn between these two trends. This is a great mistake. We believe that the Anarchists are real enemies of Marxism. Accordingly, we also hold that a real struggle must be waged against real enemies.”

I'm asking for the reasoning behind using different names for practically the same ideology, not wether Anarcho-Communists are communists or not.

Please post this somewhere else. This isn't the place to post things like this.

I think his point is relevant just didn't explain how it is relevant. He is saying that as Anarcho-communism is just Anarchism and (presumably) Libertarian Communism is not just Anarchism, the two ideas are distinct.

What's with the sudden aggression? I told you not to post things like this, and told you very nicely, and you responded aggressively. It's like you're trying to cause trouble... But nonetheless, I will stay civil and maintain a nice attitude.

I will say it again: You're off the topic of this thread. It may be tempting to post things like this, and I get it, but going this far as to responding in this manner is not ok.

Again, please find another place do do with stuff. Like for example, I'm sure there are many communities over on Reddit who would be quite thrilled to have this debate. But this isn't the place to have it.

Well, sorry that you got banned, even though I can see why you'd get banned... But back to my point. I don't know where you can post this, but for all I know, this is not the place. I guess you could try Twitter.

But this bullshit is on THIS site, the bullshit thread I'm replyin' to, people have to know when they say incorrect shit. Plus, Twitter has a stupidly low character limit making it virtually impossible to argue on there anyway.

ProletarianBanner commented 2 years ago

And they said something incorrect. They said libertarian communism is the same as anarcho-communism.

So I was just explaining. And you're the one who caused my hostility by being a whiny bitch!

Oh, that's what you were trying to say!? Sorry for thinking otherwise if that's the case. Could you please explain it bit more clearly? You weren't so evident the first time. Also, try to be more neutral.

Don't be too sorry for them, they should probably get banned here too. The only thing they contribute on GitHub Issues is proclamations of importance of their views, or minor typo fixes at best. The only code they have published in their repositories is their profile info.

For some reason I thought a proletarian interested in computer science would use a collaboration platform like GitHub to unite with other proletarians to learn stuff, to work on software, documents or data analysis, to clarify questions or suggest improvements in an open, educated and professional manner. Apparently, not this user.

Now as for your question, as I see it, the general consensus on the difference between "Libertarian X" and "Anarcho-X" is that libertarians are considered a bit more accepting of some forms of archy.

In this quiz, here are the current parameters for being matched to "Anarcho-Communism" or "Libertarian Communism":

{
    "name": "Anarcho-Communism",
    "stats": {
        "econ": 100,
        "dipl": 50,
        "govt": 100,
        "scty": 90
    }
},
{
    "name": "Libertarian Communism",
    "stats": {
        "econ": 100,
        "dipl": 70,
        "govt": 80,
        "scty": 80
    }
}

Seems like you are right that answering more nationalistically (having lower "dipl") currently brings you closer to "Anarcho-Communism". I wonder how the developers determine these parameters, and why the difference in "dipl"?
