Project is no longer being actively maintained - I am willing to pass leadership over to new developers. #62

Hello!

I would like to apologize for the clear lack of effort on my part in maintaining this project, fixing bugs, and adding new features. It was not right of me to simply drop it with no explanation, and I think I should pass it on to new developers. I've mostly moved on to other things (like college!) and I neither have the time nor the interest to continue forwards with 8values on my own. I would be willing to pass it on to another group if it was clear they were able to maintain it with the spirit of the original project. I won't be abandoning it completely, and I'll still hang around to make sure everything's going well and to help out where I can.

Please contact me (not the 8values group, me personally) or add a comment if you're interested. Also, you may consider joining the Discord server.

It no fault of your own! I can fully attest to how busy college can be! However, I would be very interested in taking over leading the project. I fully believe that the 8Values can become a fully viable alternative to the standard political compass test most commonly seen today. I think the work being done currently to try and translate the test into as many languages as possible is a large and needed step forward, and I think it will help the test gain more viewership from international audiences. I also think that parts of the test could be reworked to be more accurate and potentially resolve some of the criticism I have observed online having to do with the exam.

Feel free to contact me on here, or ask any questions you'd like to! I'll be more than happy to answer them! You've made an excellent platform for a political values test, and I want to see it go farther!

I have a lot of free time in my boring life. Will gladly maintain it.

gervasiocaj commented 7 years ago

In the last few months, I've been struggling with college myself, but thankfully I graduated 😀. I fully agree with @hsoj95, in the sense of supporting other languages, and also seeking support from people in this field who can review the questionnaire and attest it is not biased.

Genora51 commented 7 years ago

I will gladly help - from the redditor who had the brief conversation with you regarding triangular Nolan charts, and the [in]dependence of political ideologies.

EDIT: Any chance of a new discord invite link? The current one seems to have expired.

still looking for help?

TristanBomb commented 6 years ago

It seems I've forgotten to add repo access to organization members. My bad! That's been fixed. I've also invited @Genora51 to the organization. @carlomontagnino, I've noticed your account doesn't have much in the way of code on it, so I haven't added you quite yet.

I'm trying to help, but my pull requests keep being ignored, with no feedback at all. For that reason i think that I would be good in control. just dealing with issues. I wouldn't make any major changes without support from inside issues, just bugfixes and slight rewording of questions etc.

TristanBomb commented 6 years ago

Perhaps you should explain the changes you made in your PRs, rather than simply stating you've improved it. This would help us give feedback. However, I'll give your PRs a look.

Happy to help, if I'm needed.

@TristanBomb Is anyone maintaining the project at the moment? It seems like the project really needs some tidying up with a huge amount of open issues and PRs.

Genora51 commented 5 years ago

I don't think so at the moment. I really regret not doing any work on it basically for the last year and a half, but hopefully I can at least make occasional updates, although I doubt I can maintain it alone since exams are coming up soon. Thats over in about June so after that I'll do some serious work on it hopefully.

I would be happy to help, if you need it :)

Genora51 commented 5 years ago

That would be great! I think this week I'll make a start by giving all the PRs and Issues labels and then it's just a process of working through them one by one, as time allows.

doamatto commented 3 years ago

If you guys still need help with maintaining, I can help out!

mptorz commented 3 years ago

I am still up to help as well :)

Genora51 commented 3 years ago

Great! I've been slower than usual at responding to stuff recently but if you open up pull requests fixing some of the open issues then that would be really helpful, and I'll get to merging those ASAP.

lognaturel commented 2 years ago

This is a very thought-provoking project. Thanks @TristanBomb for initiating it and I hope college has been/was good to you. Thanks also to those who have been involved more recently!

Please consider pinning this issue and/or writing a little message in the readme so that the state of things is easy to find. Thanks! 🙏
