Wheel loader slip #24

Open Fracking opened 9 months ago

Fracking commented 9 months ago

Hi, the Claas Torion 956 Sinus is basically undrivable on fields. The skid steerer L318 has similar issues. Smaller articulated loaders also have high slippage on fields. The Schäffer 9660 T-2 is okish. The heavier Torions 1511 and 1914 are drivable. I think there is an issue with the weight distribution. The front axle has almost no load in the debug screen. Perhaps there could be a "fake" load/friction for wheels that are on the ground but report nearly 0 load/weight.

Best regards

Fracking

hi, as a workaround, I set up the minimal radius of affected wheels to 0.6 = works for bigger machines. But, you are right and there is a problem. This is the question for @900hasse

Fracking commented 9 months ago

Thanks, I´ll try that min radius setting. I´ve also tinkered with the frictionCoeff and raised it by a lot. It fixes the sliding trailer. Base game grip is a bit too high, but REA_wheels grip is a bit too low (I think). I don´t own farming gear, but I look at RL setups (vids) and then guess the grip.

happy testing :-) if are you interested, I can send you my version, which was heavy tuned and tested more than a year. I'm looking for share values close as possible to IRL feeling

Fracking commented 9 months ago

Sure, I´d like to try it.

Glad to share, maybe for inspiration also for @900hasse :) REAwheels.lua.txt

Someone noted that the calculation for rolling resistance might be wrong but time is limited and I have not looked any deeper into the issue.

Glad to share, maybe for inspiration also for @900hasse :) REAwheels.lua.txt nice^^

perhaps you can send it as PR?

Gordon-Dry commented 9 months ago

Derived from this and other infos I gathered here and there, this is my outcome: REAwheels.lua.txt

DrewCZ commented 9 months ago

hi @s4t4n, I'm not sure, because this is only my opinion. It's not exactly updated, only - maybe - version? With full respect to @900hasse and his work. My values aren't based on any real values or observations, only on my feelings in the game.

Gordon-Dry commented 9 months ago

I pulled that back, I just recognized that those values are good on the field but very bad on tarmac. I go back to my file as I used it for weeks, only with those changes I derived from "here and there": REAwheels.lua.txt

DrewCZ commented 9 months ago

Hi @Gordon-Dry - it's up to you of course. But, what I saw IRL, was that the "arrowed" tractor tires were a bit slippery on the tarmac. Try comparing it with "road" or "offroad" tires.

Gordon-Dry commented 8 months ago

Well, when those are not full of mud, just a small amount of soil and the conditions are dry, a little slip would be okay for the first meters, but not even reaching 20 kph (on a 40 kph tractor) with 90% slip on all 4 wheels, moving that way for dozens of meters is a little much. Especially when the soil remains are between the "arrows" of the profile, but the part that has ground contact is clearly rubber.

After testing for some more time I came to the conclusion that a slight edit of my old version works for me. REAwheels.lua.txt
