linux-*: fix do_configure() for kselftest-merge

the latest images are still broken, and I am still looking at it.. however here are 2 patches that can already be merged.

the revert was already done in https://github.com/96boards/meta-96boards/commit/df7c88003e6a086e4a306c15bc9d7f6906a696ce

For the do_configure fix, it will be nice to apply to all the kernel recipes using kselftest-merge to keep them in sync.
