As markdown is now Standardized by CommonMark team , this should support fromat from commonmark.org .
Reference implementation is already in python so should be easy to support.

Investigate whether CommonMark syntax can be validated. As the use of markdown in descriptions is a MAY, validation should probably be opt-in and off by default.
