Mines not displaying on map #35

Open AlexH0661 opened 6 years ago

Hello, I recently updated to the latest SQL DB (2.07), as well as updated A3 Wasteland Tanoa to newest version and the ArmA3 dedicated server as well. Mines are now no longer displaying on the map. The mines exist and can be found, the red triangle that displays when you go near a mine comes up as normal, but the mines aren't being drawn onto the map.

Let me know if you need any more information.

Cheers, Huss

This is done on purpose using the new disableMapIndicators command; the problem is that it allowed indies to automatically see the mines of all other indies

That makes sense. Do you think there would be a possibility of limiting map indicators to different scopes? EG group, side, etc

AgentRev commented 6 years ago

you mean only display friendly mines?

I guess more like show mines of all members within your group on the map. This would be a possible way of making it so that for the indies they can only see the mines on the map the belong to themselves and the members within their group, rather than all other indies.

At a minimum it would be useful for players to be able to see even just their own mines. A few of the users on my server use the mine indicators on their maps to monitor their mines.

I thought it was set so only group member could see your mines, members who have joined your group and seen the map, therefore if they had previously joined your group mines were now always visible to them on their map and only new mines would be added to the map if they rejoined your group again, this new info explains a lot . . . it's odd that I never saw any other indie players mines on the map who had not joined my group, unless of course most indie players didn't place mines at all but I find that hard to believe. Damn think of how many indies I could have got with my mine traps (I feel cheated lol) I second what AlexH0661 has said about limiting the mines on the map to group members only. (current group members not previous ones if at all possible) This also explains how our groups very hidden bases in the Tanoan jungle were compromised and raided by other indie players if they could see our hidden bases defensive mine system on the map and to think I set up various traps after we were raided and got a guy perma banned from the server for "esp hacking" when in actual fact it is a wasteland design flaw. Disappointing news ;(
