Also I just tried to do a bulk import with the simplest export from SeqDB. Most of the fields I needed to pair to were not available. Sets including: Collection Event Info Taxonomy Primary ID not all in one field...... And others.
File is attached if you want to try. pythium_an_CCFC_format.xlsx
We had mentioned it peripherally, but it was not clear if this was going to be a feature, I had made a comment that it would be good if it let you know if there was an issue with the data before saving it, and they agreed that this would be useful, but this is not quite the same as a table for review which would show you everything being imported which they may already have a version of that if I remember correctly
Having tried the spreadsheet shared above - I don't see myself wanting to upload just the fields currently available as material sample fields - it will always involve the other sections and multiple tables.
I think we need a more full demonstration of how that will work.
I also thought that maybe I could just load the fields from the spreadsheet that I was able to link - but that didn't seem to be an option either.
So yesterday when I said it looked ok - i was probably wrong. The idea was right but for execution I don't see it working for me yet.
And all those other create different multiple numbers of things still exist as an issue.
And is there a way to export a template that has the matching names for DINA fields?
This would be a great option as then you could just select all the fields that you want to import in DINA and have it create an import template and therefor all fields would be correctly named etc
A) Templates for "Original/Parent", Culture Strains and DNA Material Samples can be made available. B) A summary table after upload of spreadsheet is a good idea and can be implemented.
Lets discuss other functionality after the next demo for spreadsheet support.
Note: all the above is subject to prioritization and may impact the project extension that we are planning.
Hi Folks,
I may have missed this yesterday - but in Brandon's presentation of the bulk upload - was there a data review step showing you a summary table of all the data you were uploading before it got saved to the database? This is something that isn't in SeqDB - that would help us to avoid errors, I know in many other data management systems this exists.
Does it here?
