I meant ths to be an "enhancement" issue but didn't find this option - sorry!

I agree with what I think this comment is saying. I find the 6x6 grid too
simple, and primarily play the 7x7, and occasionally the 8x8. I've noticed
that if the 7x7 has more than about 5 "+" (addition) cages, then finding a
solution gets very challenging. More than about 7 "+" cages and it is typically
impossible (for me) to deduce the solution without guessing, or using "Reveal
this cell". This appears to be restricted to addition cages only, not
multiplication, subtraction or division.
Suggestion: offer a difficulty option for all grids (e.g. 7x7 easy and 7x7
harder) where the number of addition grids is increased accordingly. In the
code, just switch some cages between multiplication and addition, according to
the desired challenge level, and adjust the displayed product or sum
accordingly. At this point I think that 5 and 7 would be good crossover points
for easy, hard, harder in a 7x7 grid. I'm not sure what would be appropriate
for larger or smaller, though.

The puzzle generation has been improved a lot lately since revision 77. Those
changes will be released in version 1.96 of MathDoku. The number of subtraction
and divide cages has increased. Also we have added (more) cages with four
cells. Finnaly we have implemented a (beta) feature to allow cages of size 5
and 6 as well.

Tested in Revision 163:
Puzzle generation now typically creates less "+" cages than previously (in a
quick test of 7x7 grid, it produced 6, 4 & 2 "+" cages in 3 different games).
