See https://github.com/ACCESS-NRI/spack-packages/issues/119 . Spack version 0.22.0 has a patch that fixes the floating point exception issue in hdf5@1.14.3, but no earlier versions have this patch. For versions of Spack earlier than v.0.22, ensure that hdf5@1.14.3 is not used.
